Schott is the towering giant that looms large over the history of leather jackets and motorcycle apparel in America. They first introduced their Perfecto, the first leather motorcycle jacket and the most iconic civilian leather jacket in history, in 1928. Worn by seemingly every counterculture symbol since, from Brando to James Dean to Joan Jett and the Ramones, the Perfecto is easily the most recognizable garment associated with American rebellion and motorcycle culture.

This Schott is a beautiful steerhide #656 Cafe Racer, dated to between '79 and '80. Very similar patterns were produced by many companies in this era, though Schott's quality is second to none. The leather is in really fantastic shape with tons of life left, and all zippers are the original '70s Talons. The satin lining shows wear and tear around cuffs and hem, and there was an original, heavier zip-out liner which has been removed. Leather shows fairly minimal signs of wear for its age, though it has gained some beautiful character. It retains its suppleness and nice shine. Banded collar with double Schott branded snaps. Heavy duty Talon zipper at front. Two handwarmer pockets with circle pull Talon zippers. Talon zip gussets at cuffs. Adjustable belt straps at sides. Made in USA.
