Before moving to Toronto in early 2018, we had been working in South Korea teaching children and traveling through Asia for two years. That experience changed our lives forever and we decided that when we came to Toronto, it was important for us to be involved in the service industry because of the compassion and kindness shown to us while living abroad.

Living in a small town in Korea, it felt isolating to be separate from the community we were in. It wasn't until we found a safe haven in our local coffee shop, where we were greeted with smiles and bows, that we finally felt at home. We couldn't speak each other's languages, but it was through the act of service that we formed a meaningful relationship. Our hope is to pay that kindness forward to our customers here in Toronto.

Our passion for roasting coffee developed when we were traveling in Indonesia and noticed how almost every coffee shop we visited was roasting their own coffee. We really appreciated that personal touch. Zoe got to talking with a local man there who was kind enough to teach Zoe how to roast coffee beans. He took this new-found passion back with him to Canada and started roasting his own beans at home with the goal in mind to open his own coffee truck or cafe.

Zoe Sylvester - @zoescoffeeroaster

Say hi to Zoe (pronounced, “Zoh”). He’s the smiling face you see at the shop everyday and who roasts the tasty coffee you all enjoy. Manitoban born and raised, he brings a small town feel to the east side of Toronto. We bet you’ll want this guy as a friend after having a conversation with him. See for yourself ;)

Gabby Ondrade - @gondrade

Say hi to Gabby. If she’s not teaching and working with kids, she’s giving Zoe a break and getting behind the bar to make your drinks. She’s the life of every party, a free spirit and an amazing painter (though she won’t ever admit it).

We met while living in San Francisco, where we both worked in the retail industry for over 15 years at the store and corporate levels. Our love for design and fashion was not only fueled by the places we’ve visited and lived, but by the creative work and people that surrounded us throughout our careers. We’ve always been avid thrifters, frequenting local estate sales, flea markets, and secondhand shops in search of unique and timeless pieces for our own collections, and owning a shop of our own to share our style has always been our dream. It’s crazy that we’re here now and we’re so happy and thankful!

We hope to bring a little bit of that relaxed, California feel to Toronto and aim to curate a shop of secondhand clothing and home goods for your collection of "go-to” statement pieces that never go out of style.

Jen Schachtebeck - @jenschach

Say hi to Jen. She’s one half of the clothing side of things, sourcing all clothes, home, and accessories. She’s the voice and eye behind our Instagram, and makes sure we lookin’ good on all fronts. She loves taking photos, all things music, and being a mama to Margot and Eliot.

Matt Schachtebeck - @matt_shock

Say hi to Matt. He’s the other half of the clothing side of things, sourcing all clothes, home, and accessories. He’s got a great eye for design and style, always wants to move to anywhere he travels, and is a die hard Raiders fan (despite their not always so great record).
