The parka, a garment with which all Canadians are familiar, traces its roots and invention back to the Inuit peoples of northern Canada. Throughout the 20th century, the design and variations thereof have been produced and worn by non-Inuit for function and fashion, often without credit or benefit to those who have produced these garments for countless generations. Modern parkas, like those made by Canada Goose, all derive from indigenous designs.
Hudson's Bay Co. needs no introduction to Canadians. Vintage coats from HBC are beautiful, well-made and quintessentially Canadian. Made with modern materials, their arctic parkas are extremely warm and well-suited to the our winters, and remain quite sought after. This beautiful piece has a sky blue virgin wool shell with a fur-trimmed, adjustable hood and quilted insulated lining. The front is embroidered with an intricate three-colour thread design. Cuffs are trimmed in grey suede. Two handwarmer pockets, one interior pocket. Adjustable drawstring waist. Heavy duty two-way YKK zipper. Made in Canada.
