These US Navy N-1 "Winter Trousers" or deck bibs, an early military take on overalls, were a part of a sailor's winter deck uniform kit in WWII. For when working topside on a ship in winter weather, they were worn over pants with a matching soft "helmet" and the iconic N-1 deck jacket and provided protection plus extra warmth when needed. Everything has been thoughtfully designed: four patch pockets allow easy access while wearing gloves, while the fly has a buttoned storm flap and dual Talon zippers with pulls. USN stencil stamp on front. Adjustable button tabs at hems. Riveted at stress points. Thirteen-star buttons where braces connect. Olive drab "jungle cloth" cotton outer, wool lining. Marked size medium.
