Similar in design to the Americans' Eisenhower jacket, the British Army BD (Battledress) Blouse is a short cropped olive drab wool jacket. This, the 1949 pattern BD, is the last in line of these designs before they were replaced by a two-piece combat suit.
This particular BD Blouse is dated to 1953. It has a notched lapel, concealed button front closure and buckle strap at front waist. Bellows chest pockets, shoulder epaulettes and buttoned cuffs. Pleating at waist. Made in Glasgow, Scotland.
