Pannill Knitting Co. was Martinsville, Virginia's first textile mill, opening in 1925 and beginning Martinsville's long reign as "the sweatshirt capital of the world". Up until the '90s, the town produced up to 75% of the world's sweatshirts. With the passage of NAFTA in 1994, production began to move offshore and the textile industry in America began its decline.

Incredibly soft 1960s crewneck sweatshirt, made of the once popular Orlon acrylic and in amazing condition for its age. Like other high quality acrylics of the time, this Orlon piece is exceptionally soft and cozy, and has good warmth and durability; unlike other acrylics of the time, it holds its shape well and hasn't stretched out. A perfect comfy vintage sweatshirt with a slightly wider and higher collar than a modern crewneck. Made in USA.
