In 1973, after the Vietnam War, the cotton sateen OG-107 uniform was gradually replaced by the OG-507, which was a nearly identical shade of olive green, but produced in an easier-to-maintain 50/50 cotton/poly blend. The OG-507 fabric tended to maintain its darker original colour much longer than the 107, which faded quite quickly. The two fabrics have a different hand feel, and 507s tend to show much less wear and tear than 107s, owing to their more durable nature. The design is otherwise nearly identical.
