As deserving of the vintage grail status of its more famous sibling, the French Chore Coat, the chore pant is usually a relaxed fitting, high-waisted button fly trouser in tough cotton twill or herringbone, and like the coats or a good pair of vintage denim, have often accumulated a ton of character, with beautiful fades, paint spatter, patching and repairs.
Known as bleu de travail - “worker's blues” - in France, the hard-wearing fabric of these iconic workwear pieces is traditionally indigo dyed in distinctive deep shades of blue.
