This fine antique solid silver pocket watch (~45mm) was manufactured by renowned Swiss makers Baume. The case is of traditional antique form with engine turned engraving to the reverse and a vacant cartouche in the centre (which could be engraved). The inside is stamped with serial number 98446 and Fine Silver markings. The inner dust cover has two winding holes; one for the mechanism and one to set the time. A pocket watch key is required to operate the watch, adding to the charm feel of this piece's mechanism.
Unusually, this piece has a black dial which adds a depth and feel of quality not found in traditional white dials. With its Roman numerals, outer railroad track, subsidiary seconds dial, and mix of blue steeled and silver hands, this Baume is simply one of a kind.
Note that there are small scratches to the dial from use and a few tarnish spots to the case - all commensurate with age and use.
