An instantly recognizable historical military piece, the Eisenhower or "Ike" jacket was introduced during the latter part of WWII and named after President Eisenhower. With its short, waist-length body, it could be worn on its own or as an intermediate layer. They were made of a wool olive drab serge, with notched lapel, bellows chest pockets with pointed flaps, snap tab at waist and button tabs at side. Shoulder epaulettes and pleats were added at rear waist.
This particular Eisenhower is dated to May 1953. It has a button front closure, green satin lining and interior pocket.
